Leaning In

I leaned in
not because I wanted to
but because running
had become heavier.

Therapy felt like exposure.
No place to perform.
No place to be right.

I couldn’t outthink my way out.
I couldn’t logic my way free.

I stayed
because staying hurt less
than leaving again.

This poem was inspired by my Return series.
